Swimming was one of those things that Nuclear really enjoyed. Well she was a dog after all. Right then she was in the centre of the lake, paddling quite happily with her head above the water. It was so nice to be able to cool off on such a warm day! The orange and white Akita smiled with sheer happiness, swimming towards the edge of the lake. Her paws pushed her through the water until they hit the lake bed. She was able to stand and walked onto firm ground once more.
Water made her fur stick to her lithe frame. She shook herself, water spraying everywhere. Nuke settled down beside the lake in a patch of warm sunlight so she could dry off. It wasn't long before she was almost dry again, making her orange fur seem bright against the rest which was white. The Akita felt that she had a perfect life since she had left the Pureblood Pack in favour of the United canines.
It had worked out for the best. Serial had seen something in her that suggested enough loyalty for her to be made Beta rank. This made Nuclear glow with pride. Her dark brown eyes lit up with glee. Things really were going her way for a change. Her tail wagged, showing her brilliantly pleasant mood. She had spent most of the morning on patrol so her break was well deserved. Now all she needed was someone to talk to and all would be right in her little world.
She could hear a bird singing in one of the trees. Was it really singing off key? Nuke was sure that wasn't normal. She tilted his muzzle upwards with a sceptical expression on her face, "Bring it down an octave." There, that was much better. Ok so she was kind of a perfectionist at times. She was much happier being this way.
Something reached her nose, making her pause. She sniffed the air carefully, wondering what it was.. Another canine? She wondered if it was a member of the pack or an intruder! She hoped it was not the latter. Showing them to the border was never pleasant, especially if the Akita had to use some level of force. It was such a lovely day that doing something so disagreeable would be a shame.
