Summer was odd and unfamiliar, probably because it was her first. Aksinya had recently experienced many firsts and it was a long road ahead no doubt. The forest was alive even now, perhaps more dangerous at this time than any other. Large dark eyes turned upward to stare at the large round face of the silvery moon. Thin greyish clouds moved in front of her filtering the light through. Tiny heart beat against the walls of her sand coloured chest and her little body shook in fear. She was alone, she knew she was alone and she was easy prey. Her shivering body lay beneath a large branch that had recently fallen. It was here she'd spent the days sleeping and now that she was awake only the very front of her face was squeezed through the gap between Earth and tree to peer out from her hiding place. Her tiny brownish lips were parted as she tried to take in air, it was humid. The air seemed thin and wet and she struggled to take in enough oxygen, it felt more like drowning than breathing.
Sinya's tiny limbs were tucked beneath her small body trying to make herself as small as she possibly could, even though she wasn't exactly visible as long as she remained in her hiding place. Unfortunately, Aksinya had no understanding of death not how permanent it was, she was scared and alone and she wanted her mommy. As stupid as Sinya was she knew very well what to do when her mother was lost so with one deep breath she parted her jaws and began to squeak. It was more like a high pitch chirping than anything, but her mom would know what to do when she heard it. Big beady eyes searched the midnight horizon frantically for any sign of her mother, without her Sinya was lost completely. The young Fennec Kit had been rather slow even as a baby fox, even by the time Sinya's mother had died the kit should have been weaned. Instead as Sinya grew her bond with her mother grew stronger and her independence weakened. She had only recently learned to forage, but she refused, her mommy would come back to her! A soft whimper was emitted as the fear of being a lone forever entered her mind. Her visual search gradually became more and more frantic as minutes passed and her mother never showed. Sinya, however was too frightened to move. The eerie calls of the nocturnal birds, a natural enemy, paralyzed her little body. It was becoming more and more clear that Aksi was born a coward.

OoC: This is a weird post. My muse surprised me halfway through.
Night’s cloak lay over the earth, a blanketing mist that crept among the shadows of the trees. Those lofty trees cast dark replicas of themselves over the dusty ground. Above their usually sea green leaves, now darkened to jade, strips of black peeked between tufts of thickening clouds. The whole world was preparing for sleep, but Indecision was not to be a part of it.
Rivulets of sweat dripped from his coarse pelt. His unfocused eyes peered about as though nearsighted. Why can’t I see anything? And where did the sun go? His troubled thoughts swirled about in his head rendering him completely baffled. Why did everything appear so different from the world he was accustomed to? In an attempt to flee these thoughts, he sprinted around the forest wildly, thrashing his way through briars that snagged at his coat. At last, he paused for rest, his muscular chest heaving with exertion, inhaling ragged, thin breaths that refused to enter his lungs. This break was not by choice, however. As he sprawled across the mossy floor, his wandering eyes glimpsed a gnarled, twisted root lodged into the dirt, its finger-like ends ensnarled around his right rear leg.
The thrashing began anew as Indecision began kicking up dust as though controlled by convulsions. Spasms wreaked through his leg as he struggled to free himself. However, the end result was him even more hopelessly entangled in the undergrowth. Exhausted from the effort, his already drooping muzzle collapsed onto his forelegs. A dejected expression flew onto his weary features. Sleep, his mind commanded him. Sleep.
***A soft pattering lured him into a deep slumber. Unexpectedly, rough objects gripped him in restrainment, shaking him only slightly. His cacao colored eyes snapped open, searching through the darkness. A velvet cloth dangled before his twitching nose, leading up over a wooden structure. But it was not an oddly hued leaf of a tree, though it had its slight resemblance. Confused, he gave a few hearty sniffs. Foreign scents plagued his nostrils. Abandoning using his sense of smell, he swiveled his massive head to stare instead at his tail.
It was curled around a tree branch that stuck up straight into the air. A tree branch that was attached at an odd angle to the wooden construction he was pondering earlier. Also fastened to this branch was a length of string, a bright aquamarine contraption that looped towards him. With a free paw, he swiped at his neck, feeling the odd, leathery surface of the string that was securely tied around him. But what was it for? And where was he? And that was when the panic settled in.
As if to mock at his bewilderment, an enormous rumbling noise startled him from his rapture. Glancing ahead, he saw thick clouds swarming together, churning with rainwater. A flash of lighting sizzled, snaking across the dark sky. More thunderous noise erupted from above. Barking and howling, he made to charge outside in his terror and discovered a choking sensation about his neck and a slam to his forehead. As the noise increased in its approach, he stuck a paw before him, only to find that it collided with an invisible force. Mystified, he threw his entire mass onto the substance.
A chain of reactions occurred at that very moment. First was a shattering crash behind him, accompanied by a few shrieks. Sharp objects flew and penetrated the skin of his tail. Yowling with pain, he desperately swept his gaze around, noting a large bear-like beast come lunging for him. It was brightly colored and horrendous. Indecision’s eyes glowed with horror as the rumbling increased its volume. He was sure this would be the end of him. He would never see the darkness he had pondered over previously ever…***
…Until his eyes cracked open for the second time. All of the earlier scenes had vanished. In their places were the familiar views of before – the darkness enveloping him, the looming trees, the hard, cold earth… His terror, however, lessened none with this change in scenery.

Beady eyes darted back and forth until they finally caught sight of a rather large dark figure in the distance. During the night it was difficult for her to determine the creatures true colours, however it didn't matter it was big and it was scary. Sinya was unsure about what was going on but her tiny black eyes were focused on the distant giant. He seemed confused one moment and the next he was thrashing about violently, until he ended up on the ground. He moved slower now and her eyes watched, now with more curiosity and less fear. She moved forward slightly, but when he turned to look around him she froze again. Once more the figure thrashed about and she backed away further into her place of hiding. She gave a tiny growl but continued to watch when finally it stopped again. She stood there for a few moments watching the now motionless figure. Was it dead? Tiny paws moved her body closer inch by inch until she stood before the large motionless figure. Her little nose sniffed the air, a foul scent caused her to gag and though the stranger did not move yet her small body shook in fear.
A tiny paw moved toward the dark, wet, shiny thing that blew air at her face and she snapped her jaws trying to capture the air in her mouth. It was rather fun and it managed to distract her from the fear for a little while. Her tail flicked behind her as she rushed to catch the warm air that was flying at her. A tiny hiss escaped her throat, it was playful but as loud as she could make it. In fact she was making herself a rather large target for some hungry owl and what was worse it she was not paying any attention to the sky, no instead here she was playing this this odd black blowy thing. It was connected to the large figure that now began to stir slightly, however she did not notice. Not until its eyes opened again, then she gasped and stumble backward into a sitting position. Her Tiny eyes widened in fear as she watched it waiting for it to get up and snap her in half. Her muscles tensed and her body began to shake again, this time more violently. Massive ears flicked backward and her tail wrapped around her little body tightly, she hoped he would not see her. It seemed hard for her to believe though, the moon was terribly bright this night, and she was not aware of any animal that existed who could not see in the dark. She was used to sleeping during the day and being awake in the night, it was what she would call normal, not other way existed in her mind.
