Simon sighed, trotting along the pond's bank. He made sure not to get too close, not wanting wet paws. The day was young, the sun making the sky a pale blue color. It wasn't even in the sky yet, making things cold and dark.
Simon didn't mind it, though his body did. He had shorter hair than others, and the cold constantly got to him. The air itself was cold at all, but he sure felt like it was. He smiled at the thought of bathing in the warm sun today. His mentor hadn't told him of any training today, so he was free for now.
In the corner of his eye, he saw a small fish swim around in the shallow water. At that moment, his stomach growled. Thoughts of swallowing a yummy fish filled his mind, making him even more hungry. He stopped in his tracks, and stared at the fish. "Maybe just a quick bite.."
With that, he dunk his paw in the water and tried to swat the little fish out of the water. All he succeeded in doing was scaring the poor thing, making it swim away.
Simon stared at the empty water for a moment, and heard his stomach growl once again. He huffed, sitting back on his haunches. Now what was he supposed to do? He was hungry, it was cold, and the day was just beginning. His eyes kept on the water. His senses didn't pay attention to his surroundings, something he would surely regret.

The light gold femme’s nose was scrunched up, wrinkling distastefully. A putrid stench was in the air. Now what was that stink… Oh yes – it was the stink of fish. Illusion’s face blanching a ghastly green hue, she darted away from the smell. Or at least, she attempted to evade it. But everywhere she twisted it was there.
Once again, she was trotting along a bank of water. Jagged stones jutted out from the rocky surface, where scraps of half-eaten fish lay. Illusion leapt away from these moldy bits of decaying flesh, scattering the many gulls that flocked this feast in the process. Their powerful wings swept at her tiny but lithe frame; sharp feathers jabbed her bony ribs. Overly irritated now, she snapped ferociously at them and spat out the mangled, dusty feathers that gathered between her pointy fangs. She watched with fury as they circled above her, whitening the pale sky. A dreary day it was indeed.
By now, the gulls had risen to an elevation too high for Illusion to possibly even consider comparing. Disgruntled, she cast one more glare up into blindingly white sky before stalking away. Still, despite the unpleasant scents emitting from the waters, she remained along the shoreline, her back hunched so her bones protruded from beneath her thin pelt. Her thin, narrowed eyes flashed wildly; their gaze fell upon an unwary and very vulnerable target.
Mere yards away, an even tinier canine stood at the edge of the waters, batting a minute paw into the water. Delicate droplets of water flicked from the otherwise calm surface of the pond. Foam rose from its murky depths and trickled onto his tawny pelt already splashed with tints of white. At the site of this pitifully small creature, a leering grin broke across her twisted features. Silently, she crept closer to the canine, her belly low to the slippery ground; her forelegs hugging the sharp rocks. When she had reached where he sat, she cuffed him, hoping he would topple into the pond’s cool waters. Laughing with mirth, she sneered, ”…And what is your business here, midget?”

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=background,http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af292/KillerxZombie/Backgrounds/blackk.jpg] Kitsune had mixed feelings about the morning. She hated waking early, reality ripping her from her dreams of complete control. She would be right in the middle of her victorious howl, looking over her kingdom when her yellow eyes would be forced open. Yet, Kitsune liked watching the colors slowly creep into the sky as the sun's first rays seeped into her thick coat. Plus, the heat of the day hadn't yet settled onto the beach, which temporarily relieved her dark, double layer coat from the constant burning sensation. The dark akita was taking her normal rounds, padding slowly along the coastline, making sure all was as it should be.
No sooner had Kitsune paused to gaze out at the churning, dark waters when a foreign scent caught her broad nose. The femme lifted her head to the salty breeze, snarling as she detected a canine that wasn't from Pure Blood. Cold, burning orbs turned to stare out onto the horizon, flashing as they saw the shimmer of water. The stench was emanating from Fish Place, one different than the usual pungent odor of fish. Kitsune sighed and sped up her gait, pausing at a small rise above the clearing. The pools were calm during the predawn, shimmering mirrors only disturbed by the tide. A tiny figure stood at the water's edge, peering down into the salty depths. Kitsune recognized his black mask as he lifted his head and smirked to herself. Simon. Kitsune didn't know what it was about the tiny Chihuahua, but she was fond of him, he was small and cute, but not annoying like a small pup.
Then Kitsune saw the abomination. It was slightly bigger than Simon, but still very small. It was thin and wiry, sporting huge, swept up ears and a bushy tail. It darted about quickly and quietly, stepping up behind Simon. Before Kitsune could say anything, the little creature shoved Simon in a joking manner. Bright orbs narrowed and the dark femme leaped forward. Her jaws opened in a snarl, pearly white fangs flashing in the growing light. She was still far away, though, and obviously hadn't been noticed, so she choked back her growl of anger and slowed. Carefully stalking the creature, she watched with cold, yellow eyes. |

With a yelp, Simon tumbled into the water. It created a small splash, and confused Simon's sense of direction for a moment. The water got into his eyes and mouth. Some of it even went down into his stomach. He pushed himself up toward the surface, and took a deep breath of air. He hacked a couple times, unnerved by the amount of water that rushes into his system.
His eyes darted around and landed on a body full of golden looking fur. The scent of the canine drifted into his nose, and smelt foreign. With a jolt, he crawled out of the water. He stared at the fox, and bared his teeth.
"That is none of your business." He growled. He did not fear this fox, for it was similar to his own height. "What are you doing here, intruder?"
With a menacing step forward, his eyes ventured to the fox's and store deeply into them. Simon was not leaving any chance for this fox, no matter his size or experience. If the intruder was to stay, they'd have to fight him first. Another growl escaped his throat, and soon the scent of a dog came to his nose. It was of Kitsune's. It reassured him that if things were to turn bad, he'd have backup.

Like the pathetic rag he was, the miniature dog tumbled over. Thin, wispy weeds reached to ensnare his slender, stubby legs. But the poor creature appeared not to notice. A wave of the sickly smelling water careened over his back, thoroughly drenching his entire body. As several more waves engulfed him, he began flailing. Then he resurfaced, coughing and spluttering. Illusion watched with an oddly detached satisfaction. She grinned at the sight of his mangy fur slicked with water.
Illusion retreated a few paces as he hauled himself out of the water, a horrid stench of sea life wafting from around him. As she stared at the dog, who was saturated with the stink of fish, he paid her with a glare of his own. Baring baby canines at her, he growled a tart response. Studying him curiously, she sized him up. Though he had the same stature as of herself, he seemed a weak opponent, easily defeated. ”You are as much of an intruder as I. Obviously because this is Pure Bloods land. You’re too weak to be a Pure Bloods,” she half smirked, still retaining a composed posture.
To her dismay, he advanced still, bringing with him the putrid stink. Wrinkling her pale nose, she took a few involuntary steps back. Staring into his beady eyes, she glimpsed a deadly look that warned her she would die if she remained any longer. Being who she was, she ignored this caution.
A sudden breeze swept upon them. An odd scent had been cast; It was that of another dog. For once, anxiety leapt into Illusion’s fiery, onyx eyes. But her ‘perilous’ situation was pathetic. Here was a tiny prey stalking her and threatening her. Though he she was faced with yet another foe, the other surely would be just as incompetent. But she couldn’t concentrate on which was far off. Narrowing her eyes, she kept her stare solid and immobile, monitoring the pup’s every move.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,500,true][atrb=background,http://i1017.photobucket.com/albums/af292/KillerxZombie/Backgrounds/blackk.jpg] Simon fell, of all things, he had to lose his balance. Kitsune watched, her face conveying no emotion, as his small body smacked the water. There was a small bloop sound as he was submerged in the putrid, salty water, leaving a small splash. Kitsune sighed, she knew that inside Simon there was the fire of a dog 10 times his size, but Simon was just too afraid to release it. Then she watched as he pulled himself out of the water and advanced, unshaken. Maybe there was some fierceness in Simon after all.
Then when the vile creature insulted Simon, something snapped inside of Kitsune. Like a lion closing in on it's prey, Kitsune barreled forward. With a well aimed leap, she attempted at pinning the fox down. Hoping that her large, dark paws would keep the creature pinned, she stared down with her burning, cold eyes. Lowering her muzzle to Illusion's face, she revealed her large pointed teeth while snarling, "I don't believe we've met, let me introduce myself. I am Kitsune, the one who is going to insure that you never touch any of my pack mates ever again."
She searched the fox's face with her fiery, yellow eyes, searching for even a flicker of fear. What she saw, what she had seen before when the creature had assaulted Simon, was hatred. Maybe not as powerful as hate yet, but it was verging, and the creature seemed to glow with it. The hate gave Kitsune a strange, powerful feeling. A feeling that she liked. She realized when looking down at that creature that her pack, and thus herself, had made a canine feel such a powerful thing. It was strange, backwards logic, but Kitsune's mind is complex and foreign to anyone but herself.
"Your resentment is delicious." Kitsune finally growled with a superior expression on her face. The way she said it had a haughty air to it, as if Kitsune believed she was better than this creature. Butthat was because she did. |

The fox had spoken an insult directed toward Simon, and he'd usually feel it. He never had a great confidence in himself, and would always be in constant fear of others. When someone else had said the things he'd feel, he really did feel worse. However, this was not the case this time.
When the fox had insulted him, instead of becoming submissive, his anger flared. Originally, he wasn't feeling any sort of anger toward the fox. But now, she had crossed a line. Because she was his size, he felt his confidence. He didn't feel afraid. He didn't feel the need to cower in the shadows. He felt like attacking.
Just as he was about to tackle the fox, Kitsune leaped high over Simon himself and at the fox. Simon jumped back in surprise, and listened intently to her spit her words out at the fox. It warmed Simon's heart slightly, making him feel rather good that she had come to help.
Shaking himself of his thoughts, he took a few steps close to the two. He wasn't going to interfere if Kitsune didn't want him to. He had to respect that she wanted to fox to herself. However, this didn't mean he couldn't get a good look at it.
"You better leave now, fox, unless you want to be beaten down to something less than dirt." He spat at her, his growls calming.
